Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, at left, and Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer talked shop at a reception before the Leadership Louisville luncheon.
Sacramento, Calif., Mayor Kevin Johnson is fighting to keep his NBA team from leaving town, and there are some Louisvillians who would like to see it move here.
Johnson, a former NBA star, jokingly told about 1,000 people at today?s 2012 Leadership Louisville Luncheon: ?Don?t take my team.?
Click here to view a slide show from the Leadership Louisville Luncheon.
On a more serious note, Johnson said that if Louisville really wants an NBA franchise, then it needs to make sure it?s prepared.
He said the city already has taken a big step by building the KFC Yum! Center.
A deal to build a new arena for the Sacramento Kings in Johnson?s city fell apart when the team?s out-of-town ownership walked away from the agreement. The owners currently are considering a proposal to move the franchise to Virginia Beach, Va.
If you want an NBA team, you?ve got to be ?poised and positioned,? Johnson told the crowd. ?Do what you can do now.?
Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer, who recently floated the idea of revisiting the recruitment of an NBA franchise to the city, said there aren?t any current talks going on with any professional teams.
But he echoed Johnson?s opinion that the city needs to be ready.
?We have some issues, obviously,? Fischer said, speaking specifically about the University of Louisville?s restrictive lease agreement at the Yum Center.
?We?ve got to be positioned to win.?

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) ? When Mitt Romney addresses the Republican convention Thursday night, he'll do it from a stage that puts him a little bit closer to the crowd inside the convention hall. His campaign hopes the evening ends with Americans feeling a little bit closer to the Republican presidential candidate, too.
On this night, they are telling Romney's story.
The entire evening ? from the physical staging to the speakers' program to the planned whole-family entrance after Romney's big speech ? is aimed at introducing the sometimes stiff and distant politician as a businessman, Olympic savior and deeply religious family man. His pitch to his party, as well as to the many undecided voters who are disappointed in the country's direction, will be that he's the candidate better able to shoulder the country's economic burdens.
"It will be my privilege to stand at the podium to accept the nomination," Romney wrote in an email to supporters Thursday morning. "And I will stand not just for every supporter, and not just for the Republican Party ? I'll stand for every American who believes our best days are ahead."
Romney's speech is the centerpiece of the evening, and will touch on themes that are both personal and political. He'll tell stories, aides say, that haven't been part of his campaign trail pitch. He'll discuss his Mormon faith, particularly his time helping struggling families when he served as a church leader in Boston. He'll also present what advisers described as a "clear vision" of a Romney presidency.
"I commit to you that I will be the president this moment demands," Romney wrote.
Romney surveyed the hall Thursday afternoon, joining more than 100 staff members for a group photograph. He stood at the podium, adjusting the teleprompters and conferring with senior staff.
To prepare for the big night, Romney has spent months making meticulous notes about his experiences campaigning. He's read numerous previous convention speeches and talked to a number of close friends and confidants about how to approach his address. He and his wife, Ann, spent part of last weekend rehearsing their speeches in an auditorium at Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, N.H., near the family's lakeside summer home.
When the big moment comes, he'll be standing in the Tampa Bay Times Forum on a stage that organizers rebuilt overnight. They replaced what had been a standard stage at the front of the hall with a section that pushes the podium toward the center of the floor, so Romney will physically stand among the crowd as he speaks.
"It brings him a little bit closer," campaign manager Matt Rhoades said of the new arrangement.
Before Romney speaks, a parade of people from his past will take to the podium to walk through different phases of his life: his time running the private equity firm Bain Capital, his years running the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City and his experiences as governor of Massachusetts. Referred to inside the campaign as "character witnesses," the speeches are designed to showcase the man who friends say inspires fierce loyalty. Much of the list was drawn up by Romney's son Tagg, who found acquaintances from their Mormon church in Massachusetts to talk about how his father helped them get by.
Among those set to address the crowd are Bob White, a longtime friend and colleague from Bain Capital, and Tom Stemberg, the founder of Staples, the office supply store; Olympic speed skater Derek Parra and hockey player Mike Eruzione; and former Massachusetts Lt. Gov. Kerry Healey, who is still a closer adviser.
Shortly before 10 p.m. Eastern time, organizers will run a film showcasing Romney's life. A handful of young video staffers have spent weeks working 16-hour days inside a suite at the Marriott hotel where Romney is now staying, editing the piece through the wee hours of the morning.
Then, it will be Romney's turn. When the speech is over, he'll walk back up the stage to where his entire family ? wife, five sons and their wives, and 15 of his 18 grandchildren ? will be waiting. Thousands of balloons nestled in netting high above the convention floor will drop, carefully positioned so that none fall on the family.
It will create the image his campaign is looking for. At that Marriott hotel the morning of the speech, Rhoades saw a copy of Thursday's Tampa Bay Times, where, on the front page, running mate Paul Ryan and his family are pictured waving after his Wednesday night address, the vice presidential nominee's arm wrapped around the waist of his wife, Janna.
Rhoades pointed at the photo.
"We need that," he said.

NEW YORK (AP) ? The first night of the Republican National Convention drew an estimated 22.3 million television viewers, the vast majority over age 55.
The Nielsen Company said Wednesday that the audience, spread over nine TV networks, was down from the 23.1 million who watched the first full night of the 2008 convention that nominated John McCain to run for president against eventual winner Barack Obama.
Nielsen said that just under 15 million of the people who watched on Tuesday night were age 55 and over.
Fox News Channel, with 6.9 million viewers, beat all the other networks during the 10 to 11 p.m. ET hour when they all competed.
These days many online marketers and webmasters are choosing to go for pay per click marketing for their advertising needs. That's because there is no quicker way to instantly get website visitors than PPC. This is true for online businesses of all sizes and applies to affiliate marketers as well as those who market their own products. The reason PPC works so well is because of the amount of traffic search engines receive on a regular basis. In spite of so many different ways available to generate traffic, search engines still rule the roost when it comes to get visitors that convert into sales. One thing remains true whether you are trying to get your site to rank highly in the organic search engine listings or writing a pay per click ad: you must use the best and most targeted keywords. Getting high rankings for your keywords in the search results can take months, which is why PPC happens to be a more effective way to get faster results. There is no time lag; you can get your ad at the top of Page 1 right away if your bid is high enough. With PPC, all you have to do is outbid the competition and your ad can be at the top of the listings immediately. This brings you instant traffic that is not only targeted but is also high quality. If you follow these tips and suggestions, you'll be able to use PPC to get lots of traffic and make more sales.
It's extremely important that you take the time to test your landing pages. It's not enough to have a compelling ad copy written with primary placement. You also have to look at the next stage, having a landing page that converts your visitors into buyers. If your landing page doesn't convert, it doesn't matter how good your ad is.
All those clicks you get will only be costing you money if you don't take the time to design an optimized landing page. This is why you have to test your landing pages. Have your ads for every campaign point to a minimum of two different landing pages. This is an absolutely essential step if you need to get high returns from your campaigns. You can continue to upgrade your landing pages, as you take the best performing one and then test it against a new one.
Just because your ad has a high placement doesn't mean it will get lots of clicks. Your ad must be compelling to the people in your targeted niche. It should get the viewer interested and lead to a click. If your headline and ad don't capture viewers' attention, you won't get clicks. Your ad should also be truthful in regard to your offer. If your ad copy promises something that does not exist on your landing page, your visitors will not trust you and you will lose them. Do not forget there is a variety of approaches at your disposal with blueprint pro, and you need to understand the finer points about this strategy. Our attitudes always have a tremendous impact on what we achieve, and that is no less true when you are in business. If you stay in your business long enough and pay attention to your self, you will realize how much of an important part your daily thoughts have on how you perform in business. We would urge you to work to avoid taking things personally or negatively, and you can turn your business situation around in a number of ways including working with your mindset. Nothing really matters in terms of if you have failed so far or just have not quite figured things out; you can do more if you learn how. Options; we all have them whether you choose to believe that or not.
When you use PPC advertising, you have to watch your expenses and conversion rate. Once you know your numbers well, you'll know your conversion rates, which will determine how many leads/sales you get. By doing this, you can increase your budget on campaigns that are performing well and discontinue ones that aren't.
All in all, PPC advertising has a learning curve that you need to go through. You may even lose money when starting out, which is why it's a good idea to start off with a budget you can easily afford. You will become more proficient as you go along and soon your campaigns will be profitable.

GENEVA (AP) ? George Clooney raised almost $15 million for President Barack Obama's re-election campaign at the actor's Los Angeles home in May. For his second act, Clooney is set to arrive Monday in Geneva, a center for international organizations, governance and business.
Organizers expect to pull in a more modest amount of about $500,000 from U.S. donors for Obama's campaign, with many flying in to Geneva from around the world.
Americans Abroad for Obama, the event's sponsor, says on its Web site that guests are paying $15,000 per person to dine with Clooney, $5,000 for a photo with him and $1,000 to attend a reception before the dinner. About 30 people are attending the dinner, with at least 100 at the reception.
The event is co-hosted by Geneva-based American lawyer Charles C. Adams Jr. and Matthew Barzun, Obama's campaign finance chairman. The dinner is being held at Adams' home in an historic part of the city overlooking Lake Geneva, where Adams held a previous fundraiser for Obama in 2008.
Clooney was due to arrive in Geneva from the villa where he typically spends time during the summer on northern Italy's Lake Como. Obama campaign officials in Washington have declined to comment on the fundraiser.
The president has called the actor and director a good friend who tries to keep his distance so Obama won't be criticized for hanging out with Hollywood celebrities. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight earlier this month, Obama said he got to know Clooney through his work on Sudan when Obama was in the U.S. Senate. Clooney has led campaigns to end the conflict in Darfur, Sudan, and for more humanitarian aid for millions of people caught up in the fighting.
The Democratic president and Republican challenger Mitt Romney have both been aggressively hunting for campaign money overseas, seeking any advantage in a tight race that's expected to stay that way into the fall. Each has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars in this fashion, not including the sums raised overseas by both party committees, though it is just a fraction of the more than $300 million Obama has raised overall and the $155 million raised by Romney.
American citizens and green-card holders can legally donate regardless of where they live, subject to the $2,500-per-person contribution limit that applies to those living stateside. U.S. law bans foreigners from contributing to political campaigns. Campaigns, the parties and political committees are expected to review donors and reject any ineligible contributions.
UNITED NATIONS (AP) ? The legal international trade in small arms, light weapons, their parts and ammunition is worth at least $8.5 billion annually ? more than double the previous estimate in 2006, according to a survey by independent researchers released Monday.
The Small Arms Survey 2012 said the increase from the last estimate of $4 billion is due to several factors ? large-scale government spending especially during the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts, increased purchases of small arms and ammunition from foreign countries by American civilians, and better information and improved methods of calculating the value of transfers.
Eric Berman, managing director of the survey, said at a news conference at U.N. headquarters launching the 367-page report that it took four years to review the government-authorized international trade in small arms and researchers are now working on a multi-year effort to examine the illicit trade.
"We think the authorized trade is larger than the illicit trade, although the illicit trade may do more damage or be more problematic," he said. "So it's not just a question of total value, but I think we can clearly say that the two combined would be over $10 billion."
The Small Arms Survey, established in 1999, is an independent research project located at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva. It is supported by the Swiss Foreign Ministry and contributions from the governments of the United States, Australia and eight European countries.
The first survey was published in July 2001 when U.N. member states adopted a plan of action to accelerate national regional and international efforts to tackle the illicit trade in small arms and light weapons. It reviewed what was then known about supplies of small arms, control efforts, and the effects of their use.
The new survey's release was timed to Monday's opening at U.N. headquarters of the second conference to review progress in implementing the action plan.
U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said in a message to the conference that more than half a million people are killed each year by illicit small arms, mainly poor civilians.
While some progress has been made since 2001 to tackle the problem, he said there is still limited cooperation among countries in tracking illicit weapons, "and in many countries, insecure stockpiles continue to be a source of arms and ammunition for armed groups, terrorists and organized crime."
Last month, the U.N. General Assembly failed to agree on a new U.N. treaty to regulate the global arms trade. Ban urged the 193 U.N. member states to adopt a "robust treaty" as soon as possible, saying it is long overdue and "would definitely make a big difference in addressing the havoc small arms ? and other conventional arms and ammunition ? are causing."
Berman said the research project leading to the new estimate of government-authorized international arms transfers included a review of tens of thousands of records, customs reports and government data. The survey examined small arms in 2009, ammunition in 2010, light weapons in 2011, and parts and accessories in 2012.
Based on the findings of the four-year study, the survey estimated the annual value of the international trade to be at least $8.5 billion ? $1.662 billion in small arms, $811 million in light weapons, $1.428 billion in parts, $350 million in accessories, and $4.266 billion in ammunition.
Berman said the $8.5 billion figure "is almost certainly an underestimate" because researchers looking at parts and accessories for weapons only covered sights, not range finders, fire control systems and items for anti-tank guided weapons and shoulder-launched missiles.
One surprise, Berman said, was that ammunition accounts for half the total ? "and that underscores how important the aspect of ammunition is in government dealings with arms control issues."
The survey also looked at top exporters and identified 12 countries in 2009 that exported at least $100 million in small arms and light weapons, led by the United States and including France and Japan for the first time. The U.S., with $1.75 billion, also led the list of seven countries that imported at least $100 million.
Researchers also reported their initial findings on the illicit use of small arms and light weapons in Afghanistan, Iraq and Somalia.
The survey said one conclusion in all three countries is that armed groups are almost always using older-generation weapons except for a significant percentage of Iranian weapons seized from insurgents in Iraq, which were manufactured relatively recently.
As part of a new effort to look at trends, the survey also examined rising homicide rates in many Latin America and Caribbean countries.
The global average of firearm homicides is 42 percent, but "firearms were used in an average of 70 percent of homicides in Central America, in 61 percent in the Caribbean, and in 60 percent in South America," the survey said. It singled out El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Venezuela, Brazil, Colombia, Panama and Puerto Rico for high firearm homicide rates.
MONDAY, Aug. 27 (HealthDay News) ? Women who are overweight or obese when diagnosed with the most common form of breast cancer have a higher risk of recurrence than slimmer patients, according to a new analysis.
?Patients who are obese are significantly more likely to have a breast cancer recurrence despite optimal therapy,? said study leader Dr. Joseph Sparano, associate chairman of oncology at Montefiore Medical Center, in New York City.
These overweight and obese women with hormone receptor-positive breast cancer ? which accounts for two-thirds of all cases worldwide ? are also at greater risk of dying compared to normal-weight women, he found.
The comparison found the obese women had ?about a 30 percent increased risk of recurrence and 50 percent increased risk of death,? Sparano said.
Hormone receptor-positive breast cancer requires estrogen to grow, and Sparano speculated that one possibility for the link might be increased production of estrogen in heavier women.
While the new study findings, published online Aug. 27 in the journal Cancer, echo some earlier research, there are important differences, Sparano said.
Other studies have been complicated by the fact that obese patients often have additional health problems, which may have prevented them from getting appropriate therapy, Sparano said.
In the new analysis, he looked at a relatively healthy patients, 6,885 women in all, enrolled in U.S. National Cancer Institute clinical trials with stage 1 to 3 breast cancer (cancers that had not spread to distant sites). They could not participate if they had serious health problems, such as liver, heart or lung disease.
The percentage considered obese (body mass index of 30 or higher) ranged from 25 to 37 percent in the three studies evaluated. Body mass index (BMI) is a calculation of fat content based on height and weight.
As BMI rose, the risk of recurrence or death increased incrementally. Being overweight but not obese also increased risk.
?Obesity is clearly associated with an increased risk, and even women who were not obese but overweight tend to have a high risk,? Sparano said. However, he said he can?t pinpoint a weight threshold at which the risk begins.
It?s important to note that although a link between recurrence and excess weight was detected, the research does not show cause and effect.
Commenting on the study, Dr. Bette Caan, a senior research scientist at the Kaiser Permanente Division of Research in Oakland, Calif., said the researchers were able to address some of the shortcomings of previous studies.
?To me the big news is that it is showing obesity is only related to one subtype,? Caan said. ?It?s the most common subtype.
?Breast cancer is not one disease but several diseases,? she added.
What is not yet known, agreed Sparano and Caan, is whether reducing weight after cancer treatment might reduce the risk of recurrence or death.
Studies looking at the effect of reducing dietary fat on the risk of recurrence in obese women have come up with conflicting results. In one study, reduced fat didn?t lead to weight loss or reduced recurrence.
More study is needed, these experts say. It might turn out that weight loss only plays a role in reducing recurrence risk for some women, Caan said.

Every 40 seconds, someone in the United States has a stroke, usually caused when a clot blocks an artery that supplies blood to the brain. Now the results of two multicenter studies published online in The Lancet on August 26 are giving physicians new innovative tools proven to better remove these clots that block blood flow.
The TREVO 2 clinical trial, (Thrombectomy Revascularization of Large Vessel Occlusions in Acute Ischemic Stroke) showed that the Trevo Retriever, a clot-removal device, performed significantly better at restoring blood supply to the brain than the FDA approved predecessor Merci Retriever. The study, conducted at 16 U.S. sites and one in Spain, was led by neurointerventionalist Raul Nogueira, MD, professor of neurology at Emory University School of Medicine.
Nogueira also served as a member of the steering committee for the SWIFT (Solitaire With the Intention For Thrombectomy) clinical trial, which tested the efficacy of the flow restoration device Solitaire compared to the Merci Retriever at 18 U.S. sites and one in France.
"The results of our studies show these next-generation devices (e.g. stent-retrievers) are superior at achieving restoration of blood flow to blocked arteries and were associated with better neurological outcomes as compared to the previously available technology," says Nogueira, who serves as director of the Neuroendovascular Division at the Marcus Stroke & Neuroscience Center at Grady Memorial Hospital.
"These devices truly refine treatment and represent another great stride in the evolution of stroke care. I'm excited about their potential and the opportunity to offer this cutting edge treatment option to patients at Grady and Emory."
Nogueira enrolled patients at the Marcus Stroke & Neuroscience Center at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. Located in the region known as the nation's stroke belt, Grady recruited the TREVO 2 study's largest number of patients, enrolling 31 participants. Rishi Gupta, MD, Emory associate professor of neurology, served as the primary investigator at Grady.
Nationwide, researchers randomly assigned 88 patients to the Trevo Retriever group. The remaining 90 patients received the procedure with the Merci Retriever, a predecessor to the Trevo Retriever. Patients treated with the Trevo Retriever scored better on the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale, experienced shorter hospital stays and had significantly higher rates of functional independence 90 days post-stroke.
In the double-blind, randomized SWIFT trial researchers compared the performance of the Solitaire flow restoration device to the MERCI retriever in a total of 112 patients. Researchers found the blood clot was removed much more commonly with the Solitaire - a self-expanding stent retriever as compared to the Merci retriever. Additionally, more patients had a favorable neurological response with Solitaire than Merci.
The standard of treatment for acute ischemic stroke is an intravenous injection of the clot buster drug tissue plasminogen activator tPA which dissolves the blood clot. However, Nogueira notes limitations such as a short treatment window, risk of bleeding, and failure to dissolve the larger blood clots that often cause the more disabling strokes.
"In this patient population, rapidly restoring blood flow to the brain is critical. Patients who have had large vessel blockage strokes but are ineligible for or fail to respond to intravenous t-PA should be treated with the Trevo or Solitaire device," says Nogueira.
"We have traditionally seen poor outcomes for patients with large vessel occlusion strokes. This new generation of mechanical thrombectomy devices provides us with a highly effective tool for revascularising large vessel strokes and improving overall quality of care in patients with severe and potentially debilitating strokes if they can get to a comprehensive stroke center quickly for treatment."
The Trevo System was developed by Concentric Medical, Inc. and acquired by Stryker. Covidien is the manufacturer of Solitaire. Both devices are now approved in the U.S. and Europe.

Both devices are now approved in the U.S. and Europe.

You need at least one thick wall foam cooler ice chest in your hurricane supply list because from a fiscal perspective it saves you tons of money, while from a convenience point of view it?s less of a weight burden, and from a reliability standpoint it will keep your goods from spoiling a lot longer than average.
There?s one responsible choice for storing temperature-sensitive goods (ice, water, food, drinks, medicines, etc.) that won?t break your bank and will keep your items fresh for days rather than hours, and that would be a thick wall foam cooler (sometimes erroneously referred to as Styrofoam Cooler Ice Chests) made from space-age, light-weight, inexpensive Expanded Polystyrene (EPS).
A well-constructed thick wall foam cooler is quality-built in a superior manufacturing process to ensure thermal reliability, leak resistance, and durability. These types of foam coolers are usually a minimum of 1.5 inches thick and thoroughly tested for strength and watertight quality.
Better Insulating Qualities ? Sometimes called ?Foam Ice Chests,? the thermal properties derived from the material?s fusing process make them capable of keeping food and other goods cool and fresh for days without having to ?pre-cool? (a problem encountered with hard-shell coolers that begin melting ice right away because of their surface temperature).
Much Lighter To Carry ? Their light weight makes them easier to handle than heavier hard shell coolers so that when packed with supplies requiring thermal protection, they do not add pounds that you have to carry around with you in case you need to relocate or evacuate.
Far Less Expensive Than Hard Shell Coolers ? For the kind of money you end up paying for quality plastic or metal-surfaced coolers, you can buy, at minimum, several large-volume thick wall EPS foam coolers or ice chests. Even the cheapest, low-quality plastic coolers cost a lot more than a foam ice chest possessing better temperature control properties. With price ranges skyrocketing into the hundreds of dollars for some brands of hard shells, a person can buy four or six jumbo-sized foam ice chests and still have tons of money left over for other hurricane supplies or emergency money in case serious infrastructure damage makes normal ways of doing business difficult.
DO NOT WAIT UNTIL IT?S TOO LATE TO PREPARE!
Are you ready to protect temperature-sensitive food, drinks, medicines, meat, and other items you require when the power goes out during a hurricane or tropical storm? If not, you should to get it done now. Already this Hurricane Season we?re nearly halfway through the alphabet in officially named storms and experts predicts we?ve only just begun. Even now a developing hurricane is aiming straight for the Gulf Coast and Emerald Coast regions of the United States, so the question is?
?Have you made proper hurricane preparation or tropical storm preparations with the right supplies and evacuation plan??
Just in case you do not know how to prepare, gather information at the National Hurricane Center website because you will be well-informed.
Unfortunately, many people drag their feet, waiting until nearly the last-minute before running out to grocery stores and emergency supply shops to stock up on what they need. The problem with that is that supplies are often short by that time as logistical shipping slows down and the people who stock the shelves are busy trying to make their own families safe for riding out the storm. Also, price-gouging can become a problem when demand far outstrips supply. So, don?t be a last-minute casualty. Instead, start planning early so that you have all the food, water, medicines, back-up power, fuel, and cooler storage (for temperature-sensitive items) you need to get you through potentially hard times. That way you won?t find yourself the victim of long lines in the hot sun along with other cranky procrastinators.

In the precarious structure of relationships, what happens when those long-stewed, bitter grievances boil over? ?Wild Allegations? and its talented young cast investigates the result in this tale of a celebrity and those closest to him. The story explores love, envy, lies and good old-fashioned dastardly plots, and everyone gets their just desserts in the bitterly satisfying ending. The performances are all impressive, particularly from Freddie Goymer as the superstar sitcom actor and Jack Wilson as his petulant, plotting sibling ? a highlight being the chemistry between the two brothers at the final ugly confrontation. From laugh-out-loud hilarious to wincingly believable, this production of ?Wild Allegations? never loses pace.

If you plan ahead, you would probably want to avoid to shop during the hectic time of the Christmas season. There are plenty of people who have succumbed to the stress of trying to elbow their way in a toy store jam-packed with parents essentially in the hunt for the quickly reducing stock of the same item. And there are few seasons as the season of giving that can bring out the worst in people. To be honest, maybe it has brought out the worst in you as well on more than one occasion.
It is no wonder, as being out in the last-minute with a wish-list you had to staple together and push around in a shopping cart, are not the ideal circumstances for conducting a safe and sound shopping tour.
Preparations
It is what you tell yourself every year ? next year, I will come prepared. Next year I will start my shopping in due time before the hectic last days, with time running fast towards Christmas day, and every watch seems to count down the time until the bomb will blast off.
But what if you actually tried it. What if you picked upped that item that you found in January that would used be the perfect gift for your aunts husband? What if you did not wave off that ideas as ridiculous just because the Christmas holidays had just passed, thinking that you have plenty of time to prepare anyway.
That kind of thinking is what brings us to the same position year after year. We stand there bewildered, with a pounding heart and big eyes like we are not sure if we just got run over by a car.
Save that desperate feeling of you crowd-surfing in a store during the last panting moments before closing time. Bring it out from time to time, keep that sense of panic fresh in your mind, so when you see that perfect Christmas gift, no matter time of the year it is, you will instantly buy it in order to be able to cross another distant relative off the list.
Feel The Relief
Make it into a sport if you must, with rewards awaiting you every time you have made a purchase that will bring you another step further away from the dreaded holidays. Maybe you could treat yourself to an evening at the movie theater as you have just crossed off a present for your cousins step-brother from your to-do list. See how much easier it will be to breath for each person you can mark with a little red V, for done.
Do not fall back into your old habits of thinking short-sighted. Remember that it is that laid back attitude that pulls you back into the turmoil of stress and performance anxiety, and if you haven?t started in due time, most of December will just run by you with you feeling paralyzed by the mere thought of going out to shop for presents.
This is an article about when to shop, for Christmas gifts, with some helpful ideas on why to start as early as possible.
